Frank White

Frank White is from Glenfarne, Co Leitrim and has been interested in local history for many years. He has contributed to local publications such as “€œGlenfarne : A History”€ . His great- grandfather, Charles Cullen, was involved with the Sinn Fein movement in the early years before 1916. According to family tradition he attended meetings with Sean Mc Diarmada  in Tom Clarke’s shop in Dublin.

Franks presentation is titled, “The Rise and Fall of the Irish Nation”. He will examine how the Irish Nation as imagined by Pearse and the men of 1916 was rooted in ancient ideals and contrast this with the ideas that control Irish people today. He will also show how the public reaction to the Covid crisis shines a light on how people really think and how different this is from 100 years ago.
