Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Caoimhhghín O’Caoláin T.D. is Sinn Féin’s longest serving Dáil Deputy, representing the border constituency of Cavan and Monaghan since 1997. He has been an elected representative for 33 years,having first been elected to Monaghan County Council in 1985. He was a member of the Sinn Féin negotiating team that led to the Good Friday Agreement. He was his party’s Dáil Leader from 2002 until 2011. A long time spokesperson on Health and Children issues, he is currently his party’s spokesperson on Disability Rights and Older People. Caoimhghín is Chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Justice and Equality. A native of Monaghan town, Caoimhghín is married to Briege and they have five children.
