Mark Daly
Senator Mark Daly was elected as the 24th Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann on June 29th 2020 by his fellow Senators. He is the first Kerryman, youngest Senator from his party and second youngest individual to hold the office. Since his election as Cathaoirleach he has implemented all the recommendations in reports on Seanad Éireann reforms that was within the power of the senate to implement. In 2017 Mark published the first ever report by a Dáil or Seanad Committee on the issue of “Brexit & the Future of Ireland : Uniting Ireland and it’s People in Peace & Prosperity”.
This Report was followed by Mark producing a further five reports on the topic of a United Ireland. In 2013 Mark asked Micheál Martin TD to appoint him to the position of spokesperson for the Irish Overseas and the Diaspora. It was the first time a member of the Dáil or Seanad was appointed to such a position. Mark is also the founding Chair of the American Irish State Legislators Caucus which supports the Good Friday Agreement & the strengthening of the links between the 2 Republics.
